Pre Idol Chat - sorry no Top 12 Girls

I wanted to apologize for the top 12 girl’s blog not making it to very many people. I was not at work due to inclement weather and tragically my distribution list wasn’t at home. I also have to say that it is a darn good thing that I am not a real journalist, (I just play one at 1 am) otherwise I might have been fired for sending Kenny Loggins to an early grave. I meant to compare Luke Menard to the late Dan Fogelberg, and in my delusional late night fog, mixed the two of them up in my mind. Thanks to astute reader (Gene) for straightening me out. I am surprised out of 100 people, he was the only one to call me on it!!!   Remember friends, not only am I not a real journalist, but I am not a real musician either. In any event, I hope that none of you became too distraught thinking that Kenny had passed and you had somehow missed it.

As far as the kick off show goes, I have to give kudos to Paula on her comeback. I thought she looked gorgeous, and should have large fans blowing on her at all times. I do have to question the number of kids that were put in the top 24 after viewing the kick off. Just because they sing maturely, doesn’t mean that they are mature enough to deal with a rejection of that magnitude. My heart broke a little when Ryan told Garrett he would be leaving and he replied, "really?" That being said, I am actually relieved that he won’t have the stress of another live performance. Poor Colton didn’t have a chance against David Archuleta, who is sure to draw the majority of the tween voters.

There was no mystery at all with the girls who went home, and Amy’s song was equally atrocious the second time around. I was sorry to say goodbye to our plus size model, Joanne. There sure was a lot more crying going on than I remember, and I hate to see some of these girls when it really starts getting stressful. I personally am excited to see Jason Yeager and Luke Menard get a second chance tonight. I thought aside from a boring performance, Jason has a beautiful voice, and let's face it, Luke is almost as hot as Michael Johns.

On a side note, am I the only one who thought that they took the 60's theme too far with the costuming and hairdos? Am I the only one who had one of those crocheted vests that Amanda was sporting?  I will try my best to be coherent in my notes tomorrow and of course I will not kill off any current living music legends either. Tune in tonight…..
