After careful deliberation with Gary, he told me to go ahead and break this down......
Michael Johns: "Dream On" is inspirational? Did you bother to read the lyrics? The only thing Steven Tyler was dreaming about was kicking his heroin habit. You are lucky the Chihuahuas liked it, I'm sure the dog pound will vote you back.
Syesha: Girl, you just don't learn do you? There are certain artists that these judges do NOT want to hear you cover. You sounded ok, but I could still picture that nasty skank Fantasia singing it. Bottom three.
Jason Castro: I kept trying to find something wrong with it, thought you butchered the lyrics, but went back this morning and watched a couple versions of Iz doing it and I believe you had it all right. Perfect.
Kristy Lee: You finally looked the way you did during your audition. HOT HOT HOT. Next week, show us some cleavage. By the way, did you sing?
David Cook: Nice get-up, Prince. There is a big diff in doing a song that might be a little obscure (see "Hallelujah" or "Angels") but is a great song, versus doing one that only you (and by the way, the fact that Our Lady Peace is your fav band makes you REALLY cool to us) and three other people have ever heard. Also, what's with the "Give Back" on your palm and that really cool stare at the end? You are NOT, I repeat NOT Bono. Bottom three.
Carly: Horrible, horrible song. You looked great though. Ask them to quit showing your husband's tattooed face - I guarantee it is costing you votes. This is American Idol, not LA Ink. Bottom three.
David Archuleta: Just as I was dissing you and saying I thought people might be getting tired of your "aw, shucks" thing, you pull off another gem. Nice touch with the piano, correct choice in staying seated and playing rather than getting up and working the stage half-way through. Fantastic song, fantastic performance.
Brooke White: Decent, nothing spectacular. Good job on keeping your mouth shut during the judges comments. Is it just me, or does she look like she is ready to break down at every moment? I think this one might be a little on the nutty side.....
All that said I think it will Syesha going home on Thursday - the WRONG person, but that's the way it will shake out, I think.
